Our goal is to make your first neurology visit simple, comfortable, & informative. Below you will find what to expect, what to bring, & how we help patients across Middletown & Newport, Rhode Island, get the care they need.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is designed to give you clarity and a clear plan forward. Most new patient visits last 40 to 60 minutes, allowing time for a thorough evaluation.
During your visit, we will:
- Listen carefully to your symptoms and concerns
- Review your medical history and prior records
- Perform a focused neurologic examination
- Discuss what may be causing your symptoms
- Recommend only the testing that is truly helpful
- Provide a written treatment plan and next steps
You will leave knowing what is most likely, what is less likely, and what we will do next.

Insurance, Referrals, & Costs
Island Neurology works with most major insurance plans. Some plans require a referral from a primary care provider, while many do not.
