Patient FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care provider, and many do not. If you are unsure, contact our office and we will help you check your specific plan.

You may benefit from a neurology evaluation if you are experiencing:

  • Frequent or severe headaches
  • Dizziness or balance problems
  • Memory loss or confusion
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Weakness
  • Seizures
  • Tremors or movement changes

If your symptoms are affecting your daily life, work, or safety, it is reasonable to schedule an evaluation.

If you have signs of stroke — such as face drooping, arm weakness, or trouble speaking — call 911 immediately.

For urgent but non-emergency concerns, contact our office. We make every effort to see patients promptly when symptoms are concerning.

Your first visit typically lasts 40 to 60 minutes. During this time:

  • We listen carefully to your story

  • Review prior records and imaging

  • Perform a focused neurologic exam

  • Explain what may be causing your symptoms

  • Create a clear, written treatment plan

You will leave understanding your next steps.

Please bring:

  • Photo ID

  • Insurance card

  • A current medication list

  • Recent test results or imaging reports (if available)

A family member or caregiver is welcome to attend with you.

We only order tests when they are likely to change care. Depending on your condition, testing may include:

  • MRI or CT imaging

  • EEG (for seizures)

  • Blood work

  • Nerve testing

We explain why each test is recommended before it is scheduled.

Treatment plans may include:

  • Medication management

  • Migraine prevention strategies

  • Physical therapy referrals

  • Targeted injections when appropriate

  • Risk factor management for stroke prevention

We focus on the simplest effective option and adjust based on your progress.

Follow-up frequency depends on your diagnosis and goals. Some conditions require close monitoring, while others need only periodic visits. We tailor your follow-up schedule to your needs.
